The Mercedes-Maybach Guard S600 is the world's first automobile to offer ballistic protection with a VR10 armor level.
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 achieved what seemed impossible: to combine the maximum exponent of luxury with armor worthy of a battle tank. The German model is the first light passenger vehicle to achieve a VR10 level armor certification, while withstanding the impact of military ammunition with steel core and even explosive charges.This high level of protection has been achieved thanks to the newly developed underbody armor – which covers the entire underside of the cabin – and the various exotic materials such as aramid and polycarbonate used in the windows. Note that the use of these materials did not change the exterior appearance of the model.

It should be noted that in addition to the VR10 certification granted by the Ballistics Authority of Ulm (Germany), the Mercedes-Maybach Guard S600 also obtained the ERV 2010 (Explosive Resistant Vehicles) certification.
