Audi A8 in 2017: Ingolstadt strikes back

Rupert Stadler, Audi CEO, confirmed the arrival of the new Audi A8 as early as 2017.

This year's Audi annual conference was marked by a battery of important news. In addition to the announcement of the arrival on the market of the new Audi A8 in 2017, Rupert Standler also announced the launch of 20 new and renewed models in the next 12 months – among others, we highlight the Audi SQ7, Audi A2, Audi A4 Allroad, Audi A5 and Audi A3 (facelift).

As for the Audi A8 – by definition, the brand's technological flagship – we will have to wait until 2017. We remind you that both the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class are already in a new lifecycle, so this will be the last model of the «big three Germans» (read BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz) to reach the market.

A late counter-attack, but one that will allow Audi to reach the market knowing in advance what the competition's strengths are. And speaking of trump cards, one of the great bets of the new Audi A8 will be driving support technologies. According to Rupert Standler, the A8 will be the brand's first model with fully autonomous driving up to 60km/h (for limited periods).

In addition to the announcement of new models, the CEO of Audi also spoke about the financial and commercial panorama of the brand. After a 2015 troubled by the emissions scandal at the Volkswagen Group, Audi performed well in the first four months of the year: a total of 600 thousand units sold, 4.9% more than in the previous year.
