SEAT Ibiza and Arona. Left rear seat belt closure motivates recall

Anonim

According to SEAT, the problem lies in the closure of the rear seat belt on the left side, which, in situations such as a sudden change of lane, with five passengers on board, and when the left and central rear seat are occupied, it can open, leaving the occupant free.

At issue are, also according to the manufacturer from Martorell, the new Ibiza, 2017 and 2018 models, and the Arona, 2018 model.

While noting that both models affected by this problem are safe to drive, SEAT also advises owners of these vehicles not to use the center seat on the Novo Ibiza and Arona, at least as long as the cars are not equipped with the redesigned Belt locking device.

Currently in contact with the competent authorities, in order to obtain its final validation, in order to implement the respective solution, both in vehicles that are already on the market and in future production, SEAT promises to kick off, in the coming weeks, with the recall campaign . This will start with the sending of a letter to the owners of the affected vehicles, so that they can travel, on a pre-determined date, to the official SEAT Service.
