The new Ford Focus ST made its world debut at the Goodwood Festival, where we were present. The new Ford sports car faced the famous ramp and tested its full potential. The Golf GTI beware…

Without breaking with the current version, the new Ford Focus ST adds some new features to the sportier element of the Focus family. New chassis control technologies, along with new suspension and steering adjustments, contribute to a more rewarding and balanced driving experience according to Ford.

In addition to these new features, for the first time the ST range welcomes a Diesel version.

Ford's 2.0 EcoBoost engine now produces 250hp, using a turbocharger and Ti-VCT technology (variable valve opening and high-pressure direct injection), solutions that guarantee performance worthy of the ST initials. Peak power is reached at 5,500 rpm, with the maximum 360 Nm of torque appearing in a very wide band, between 2000 and 4,500 rpm. Top speed is 248 km/h, while acceleration from 0-100km/h is achieved in just 6.5 seconds. All this with lower consumption than in the generation that now ceases to function.

And for those who are especially concerned about consumption without neglecting performance, there is good news. The new generation Ford Focus ST will debut a diesel variant, equipped with a 2.0 TDCi engine with 185 hp (+1 hp than rival Golf GTD).

This new level of power has been reached thanks to new electronic tuning, a revised air intake system and the adoption of a new exhaust system with specific sport tuning. Small adjustments that contribute to a torque of 400 Nm and a top speed of 217 km/h.

Both engines are associated with a six-speed manual gearbox, with short and well-tuned gears to extract all the performance from the blocks.

On the outside, the visually aggressive lines, the muscular air and the 19-inch alloy wheels are the elements that stand out the most.

Inside, it's the Recaro seats that deserve the most attention. Not only that, but also the SYNC 2 system with an 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen, as well as the voice control system.

In short, a hatchback with strong lines, a capable engine, matching suspensions and precise steering. Most likely, this “boy” will give the Golf GTI and GTD some headaches, more than enough reasons to keep an eye on this “Euro-American”.
