Designer Karim Habib, former head of BMW's design department, will take over the leadership of Infiniti's design department.

It started as a rumor, but now it's official: as of July 1, Infiniti will have a new element on its boards. Karim Habib, the designer responsible for models such as the BMW X1, X2 Concept or the previous generation 7 Series, left the Bavarian brand to take over as head of the design department at Infiniti.

In a statement, Nissan clarifies that Karim Habib will directly replace Alfonso Albaisa, who has been promoted to Nissan's top design manager. Alfonso Albaisa showed his satisfaction with this change.

“We are delighted to see Karim join the team and lead Infiniti's design department. During his career as a designer, he was responsible for modern and very inspiring designs. Karim is very good at capturing the values of a brand, while creating designs unique”.

Karim Habib will join Infiniti's technical center in Atsugi, Japan, while leading the brand's design teams in the UK, US and China.
