Cold Start. New Ford Ranger Raptor lets itself be heard and seems to be… gasoline

Anonim

It was during the online presentation of the new Ranger that, halfway through, Ford dropped a "crumb" about the future Ranger Raptor in the form of a QR Code.

The small QR Code almost went unnoticed and the most certain thing would be that, after reading it, it would give access to a page with more information about the new Ranger, but not…

The code gives access to a short but revealing video, in which two details stand out: a date and a sound.

Ford Ranger Raptor Teaser

The date you see is February 2022; and the bass sound is that of an engine speeding up and down, and it sounds like something gasoline and much bigger than a simple four-cylinder in-line.

It's just speculation for now, but the next Ford Ranger Raptor looks like it's going to swap out the current 213hp 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel four-cylinder for a larger octane twin-turbo V6 — the most likely candidate is the 3.0 twin-turbo V6. Explorer ST with 405 hp!

Whether that's the case or not, the answer will come in February 2022, with the unveiling of a new Ford Ranger Raptor. Until then, stay with the test we did for the current one:
