Created to celebrate 25 years of the acronym Type R (in 2017), the first electrical and autonomous prototype bearing the Type R acronym is quite different from all the Type Rs we know, starting with its size.
The way Honda found to celebrate such an important milestone was through the creation of a sporty version of its… lawn mower. THE Miimo Type R is a racing-looking prototype inspired by the true Type Rs and is based on the autonomous Miimo electric lawnmower, launched in 2013.
Visually, the smallest of the “Type R” has three tailpipes and the unavoidable rear wing — like the Civic Type R and functional headlights and taillights (thanks to 40 LEDs). The Miimo can be equipped with a battery that lasts for 30 minutes or an hour and is even capable of charging itself autonomously.
In addition to the Miimo Type R, Honda also created the Miimo Fireblade, to celebrate 25 years of the motorcycle with the same name. If you were in the mood to purchase the smallest of the Type Rs, we are sorry to inform you, but this was only a prototype, and it was never sold (just like the Miimo Fireblade).
