A few days from the Los Angeles Motor Show, Porsche presents the updates operated on the Cayenne.

The big differences made in the new Porsche Cayenne start right away with the new aesthetic. The changes were punctual but certain, the German SUV is now more balanced and pleasant, noting some approach to its younger brother, the Macan.

The big changes come at the mechanical level, with a new and wide range of powertrain offerings all served by the Tiptronic S 8-speed gearbox. The base version of the Porsche Cayenne is associated with the 3.6L V6 block with 300 horsepower and 400Nm of maximum torque, capable of an acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 7.7s and a top speed of 230km/h. This version announces average consumption of 9.2l/100km.

In the S version the 3.6l V6 block appears again, now aided by two turbochargers, raising power to 420hp and 550Nm of maximum torque, the performance figures in 5.5 seconds from 0 to 100km/h and 259km/h of top speed, with a declared average consumption of 9.8l/100km.

In addition to the sporty Cayenne S proposal, Porsche is also contemplating the latest Cayenne S E-Hybrid, equipped with a 333hp 3.0l V6 block supported by a 95hp electric motor. The combined power of the two engines is 416hp and 590Nm of torque – as the electric motor never delivers full power at the same time as the heat engine.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 5.9s and reaching a top speed of 249km/h. But the best thing is the consumption that can alternate between 8.2l/100km circulating only with the heat engine and a record-breaking 3.4l/100km with the help of the electric motor, whenever the 9.4kWh batteries have energy. But the Cayenne S E-Hybrid's impressive capabilities don't end here, with purely electric locomotion the Cayenne S E-Hybrid is capable of reaching 125km/h with a maximum coverage of 36km.

But the version that will arouse the most passions is the Cayenne GTS, less suited to degraded routes and more focused on devouring roads with good pavement in a forceful and fun way. To create the axles, Porsche chose again the block 3.6 L V6 Twin Turbo, but this time with the power stretched to 441hp and 600Nm of maximum torque.

The performance of this lowered 24mm «monster» and PASM suspension with specific adjustment catapult the German model to a maximum speed of 262km/h and takes just 5.2s from 0 to 100km/h. The advertised consumption (not being very important in this model…) is 10l/100km.

For those who value straight-line performance above all else, at the top of the food chain we find the Cayenne Turbo, equipped with the 4.8L V8 Twin Turbo block with 520 horsepower and 750Nm of torque, it manages to catapult this «giant» of nearly two and a half tons to 100km/h in just 4.5s reaching the 279km/h top speed. The average consumption, according to the brand, is around 11.2l/100km. Of course yes…

The Diesel offer on the Cayenne is limited to just 2 versions, the access version and the Diesel S. The 3.0 V6 block delivers 262hp and 580Nm in the access version, while on the Diesel S, equipped with the 4.2L V8 block, the power rises to 385hp and 780Nm of torque. The first achieves values of 7.3s from 0 to 100km/h and 221km/h, with the S Diesel gaining 1.9s from 0 to 100km/h and reaching a maximum speed of 252km/h.

It should be noted that the Sport Chrono packages for the Cayenne S and GTS take 0.1s off acceleration from 0 to 100km/h, another of the Cayenne's innovations for 2015 is the automatic door closing system, the button to lower the rear and facilitate the load plan and LED lighting with PDLS and PDLS Plus systems, capable of managing lighting in a fully automatic and adaptive way.
