It's official. The BMW M4 GTS, the brand's fastest production car ever, will be released in 2016 in a limited edition.

The M4 GTS, which has remained unchanged since the last concept presented in the US, has a look capable of stopping traffic and will be one of the stars of the Tokyo Motor Show, taking place later this month. Described as an “exclusive technological exemplar”, the M4 GTS debuts OLED (organic led) technology in the taillights. The adjustable suspension and the electro-mechanical steering system improved compared to the conventional M4 are other new features of the M4 GTS.

Once again, at the heart of all the action, we find the 3.0 bi-turbo engine now equipped with water injection technology. This system injects a small amount of water into the intake, thus reducing the temperature in the combustion chamber – which translates into lower consumption and more power, as demonstrated by the healthy 493hp of maximum power at 6,250rpm of this M4 GTS.

With the dual-clutch transmission being responsible for the reduction of so much power, the M4 GTS accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 305km/h. Values that result not only from the increase in power but also from the weight reduction work carried out by the brand.

BMW is committed to making the M4 GTS 80kg lighter than the original M4, thanks to the Carbon Ceramic brakes, the titanium exhaust system and the removal of the rear seats and rear tire support. The BMW M4 GTS is scheduled for launch in 2016 and has not yet been priced, but it is already known that only 700 units will be produced. While it's not here, you can entertain yourself with the photos and the promotional video, recorded in Portimão. Dreaming doesn't cost…
