That's how you drive a Le Mans Lancia LC2 on the road

Years pass, but the Lancia LC2, built to compete in Group C at Le Mans, remains one of the Turin brand's most impressive models ever.

In total, seven units were built, which participated in 51 races and achieved three victories. But this particular specimen went further and continues its “life” on the roads.

Yes that's right. This Lancia LC2 is part of the private collection of Bruce Canepa, a former North American driver who has just published a video where he appears at the wheel of this prototype on public roads.

Needless to say, this is one of those videos where you have to turn up the volume, to hear the original Ferrari V8 engine — which at that time belonged to the FIAT Group — “screaming” very loudly.

This engine, debuted on the Ferrari 308 GTBi in 1982, was atmospheric and had 3.0 liters of capacity, but on the Lancia LC2 it was modified to reduce displacement down to 2.6 liters (it would return to the 3.0 liter configuration in 1984 to increase reliability) and received a KKK turbocharger.

Details surrounding Bruce Canepa's exemplar are sparse, but it is known that there are LC2s similar to this one producing an impressive 840 hp of power at 9000 rpm and 1084 Nm of maximum torque at 4800 rpm.
