Land Rover recovers 25 copies of the iconic Series I

The Techno Classica Salon will receive a restored version of one of the most emblematic models of the British brand, the Series I.

The start of production of the emblematic Land Rover Series I dates back to 1948, in the midst of the Second World War hangover. Inspired by American off-road models such as the Willys MB, Land Rover took to the Amsterdam Motor Show that year the first of three “Land Rover Series”, a set of minimalist models with all-wheel drive and utilitarian spirit. Later, this model would give rise to the Land Rover Defender.

Now, nearly 6 decades after Land Rover's all-terrain production ended, the brand will launch the Land Rover Series I Reborn, a series of 25 units developed by the Land Rover Classic division in Solihull, UK.

The 25 models – with original chassis at the time – will be handpicked by a team of specialists from the brand to later be restored to their original condition. Each customer will also have the opportunity to participate in the restoration process, including being able to choose one of the 5 traditional colors of the Land Rover Series I.

NOT TO BE MISSED: Could this be the new Land Rover Defender?

For Tim Hannig, director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic, the launch of this initiative “represents a fantastic opportunity for the brand's customers to acquire an icon of the automotive industry. The Land Rover Series I Reborn is a small sample of the Land Rover Classic's capabilities when it comes to restoring our customers' favorite Land Rover models,” he says.

Audi's historic prototypes are another highlight at the Techno Classica Show, which takes place from April 6th to 10th in Essen, Germany.
