The New York Motor Show was chosen by Land Rover to present the new Range Rover SVAutobiography. According to the brand, the model developed and produced by JLR Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) will be the most luxurious, most expensive and most powerful Range Rover ever. Get used to it, from now on the use of superlatives should be the norm in describing the most majestic of Range Rovers. In fact, it always was.
Available in both standard and long bodywork, the SVAutobiography easily distinguishes itself from other Range Rovers thanks to its unique two-tone bodywork. Santorini black was the chosen shade for the upper body, while for the underside there are nine shades to choose from.
Also on the outside, exclusive finishes were chosen to identify the brand on the front, entirely made in polished chrome and Graphite Atlas, which complement the SVAutobiography designation on the rear. In the V8 Supercharged version – the most powerful of all – these details are joined by four imposing exhaust outlets.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography's focus is on luxury and nothing shows it better than the interior. Details reveal that nothing has been left to chance. Carved from solid aluminum blocks, we find several controls, as well as the pedals and even the hangers on the rear pillars.
Behind, passengers travel comfortably installed in two reclining seats, surrounded by luxury, including a refrigerated compartment and tables with electric drive.
As an option the Range Rover SVAutobiography can be fitted with a sliding floor in the trunk, facilitating loading and unloading. Still, the most peculiar option – demonstrating the Range Rover's versatility potential - is the “Event Seating” (image below). From one of the doors that make up the rear gate, it is possible to “rise” two benches to watch a hunt or a golf tournament. Maybe even to fish by the river…
As for engines, the Range Rover SVAutobiography receives the same Supercharged V8 as the familiar Range Rover Sport SVR. There are 550 hp and 680 Nm, more 40 hp and 55 Nm respectively than the other V8 engines. Despite the identical numbers to the SVR model, the V8 engine in the SVAutobiography version has been recalibrated for greater refinement and availability, rather than pure performance, as it should be in a vehicle where luxury and comfort take precedence.
In addition to this, the other engines in the Range Rover range can also be associated with the SVAutobiography equipment level.
Just one more note. Coinciding with the presentation of this version, the Range Rover range will receive some updates, with regard to mechanics and technological content. Highlights include the reduction of polluting emissions in the SDV6 Hybrid and SDV8 engines, the unprecedented and optional Dunlop QuattroMaxx for 22″ wheels, the new Surround camera, the opening of the hands-free luggage compartment and the improvements in the InControl system. The rest? The rest is luxury… very luxury.
