Range Rover Sport SVR, the fastest on the Nürburgring

The Range Rover Sport SVR has yet to be officially made known, but the brand already announces it as the fastest SUV in a lap around the Nurburgring circuit.

The obsession with the Nürburgring insists on not fading away. Just recently, we saw the Seat Leon Cupra R and Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R duel for the title of the fastest front-wheel drive hot-hatch at Green Hell, with both falling under 8 minutes. With these results barely dissected, the heavyweight category enters the arena through the Range Rover Sport SVR.

Range Rover has just released a time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds for its future Range Rover Sport SVR! A formidable time, considering that it is an XL size SUV, which should weigh around 2.4 tons on the weighbridge, and possess a center of gravity not recommended for the mass transfers that the fast and shattering circuit must demand. And, according to the brand, the record was achieved with a model exactly the same as the one that will be marketed.

Interestingly, or not, the time announced by Range Rover is 1 valuable second less than what was advanced, but not yet confirmed, for the Porsche Macan Turbo.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is expected to be presented later this year, with sales scheduled for 2015. It is the first production model by JLR SVO (Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations), which until now had only made known to us unique concepts or Limited production models, all bearing the Jaguar symbol.

It will become the most powerful Range Rover ever, thanks to the 5.0 V8 Supercharged feature, here with 550hp, already known from Jaguar's R-S models. As might be expected, revisions were made to the suspension and brakes to deal with the extra muscle.

Is there such a thing as a Range Rover so friendly to the asphalt? Do not worry. Range Rover has also announced that the Sport SVR will come with a high and low transfer box and will feature a ford capacity of 85cm. Oh, the antagonisms!
