The Wörthersee festival has been taking place annually in Austria for 36 years, and the last 10 have somehow been marked by prototypes developed in collaboration with a group of interns from various Volkswagen departments. Models that usually stand out for their high power and irreverent appearance. And with the Golf GTI First Decade it couldn't be different.
The sports car is equipped with a gasoline engine with a maximum power of 410 hp, responsible for delivering power to the front axle, and a 12 kW electric unit, which directs its power to the rear wheels. The two engines can work together or separately, which allows them to have rear, front or four-wheel drive and work in 100% electric, hybrid or just the combustion engine. Driving modes can be configured via the infotainment system.
In terms of aesthetics, the Golf GTI First Decade was painted in shades of blue (Atlantic Blue Metallic) with stripes along the body, matching wheels, a Clubsport spoiler and “First Decade” inscriptions. Golf GTE Variant boost
The Golf GTI First Decade will not be alone on Wörthersee. This group of interns – aged between 18 and 23 – developed yet another model, based on the hybrid Golf GTE Variant.
Here, what's new is the battery capacity, which grew from 8.8 to 16.8 kWh, in addition to the new wheels and the more aggressive body kit. The Wörthersee Festival starts tomorrow, the 24th of May.
