An unlikely marriage, but not an impossible one. Hot rods are as American as apple pie, but do not imply a rigid formula. And just look at this copy.

It couldn't start more classically, using a 1932 Ford, but the engine couldn't come from a more unlikely source. Yes, it maintains the V8 architecture, but instead of a huge block «made in the USA», this Ford receives a V8… from Ferrari.

The small block, with just 3.0 liters of capacity — a small thing by American standards — comes from an unspecified 1989 Ferrari model. the estimated power is 950 hp and is capable of rotating at 8500 rpm . To achieve numbers in this order of magnitude, two turbos from Turbonetics were added to the Italian V8.

To keep the horses 'fresh', the front features Mishimoto intercoolers and a large-capacity aluminum radiator in the trunk. As the hot rod that it is, everything is transmitted only to the rear wheels via a six-speed Tremec manual gearbox with competition clutch.

A Ford that wants to be a Ferrari

The bodywork may resemble a 1930s car, but the chassis is definitely contemporary. The rear suspension is independent, with KW competition dampers on all four corners, supporting 18″ wheels that barely hide 15″ brake discs and four-piston callipers.

Inside, of which there are no pictures, we can count on amenities such as electric windows and, of course, a roll cage and bacquet with a five-point harness. The instruments are by Dakota Digital.

To complete the peculiar marriage, the color is red (Vintage Flatz Satin Red) and the five-spoke wheels are designed by Alan Lee. The tires are by Achilles Race Tires. And as you may have noticed, the rampante horse adorns the side of this Ford hot rod — it almost passes for a Ferrari, almost...

Are there interested?

This project had already passed through SEMA and is now for sale. MP Classics World, located in Los Angeles, California, asks for a modest sum of 250 thousand dollars for this hot rod, the equivalent of 213,000 euros. A hefty price tag, but not your typical hot rod either.
