Finally the McLaren P1 GTR is revealed in all its splendor. The ultimate circuit machine?

The McLaren P1 GTR is no stranger to Automotive Ratio. We've looked at this unique machine before, but finally McLaren has unveiled the ultimate shape of this circuit beast.

Looking back quickly, the McLaren P1 GTR is to the P1 on the road what the LaFerrari FXX K (best car name ever?) is to the “civilian” LaFerrari. In other words, it is a creature that will only have the circuits as its destination, not being able to travel on the road and not even being able to approve it for any competition.

For an exorbitant €2 and a half million, the future owner of the Mclaran P1 GTR will have access not only to the machine but also to the McLaren P1 GTR Driver Programme, which will take him to visit circuits such as Silverstone or Catalunya. It also includes a stop at the McLaren Technology Centre, where you will be provided with a bespoke competition seat, access to a simulator for a first virtual contact with the Mclaren P1 GTR and even a meeting with design director Frank Stephenson to discuss and decide on the exterior decoration of the future machine.

NOT TO BE MISSED: This is the Ferrari FXX K and it has 1050 hp

The final specs reveal a round and imperative 1000hp of maximum power, 84hp more than the road P1 with the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 800hp and the electric motor an additional 200hp. Unsurprisingly, and free of any regulations or approvals, McLaren has revised the P1 at every level to make it the ultimate circuit weapon.

The weight was reduced by 50Kg and the ground clearance was reduced by 50mm. The front lane has been generously widened by 80mm, and we can see new, central single-grip 19″ competition wheels holding Pirelli slick tyres.

The Mclaren P1 GTR also differs in the exhaust system, where two large tubes positioned centrally at the rear stand out. They contribute to a weight reduction of around 6.5kg, thanks to the material they are composed of: an exotic alloy in titanium and Inconel.

And if the tailpipes stand out, what about the carbon fiber struts on the new fixed rear wing? It is the most outstanding element in the P1 GTR aerodynamic magazine. Positioned around 400mm above the body, 100mm higher than the road P1's adjustable wing and working in conjunction with the flaps placed in front of the front wheels, they guarantee a 10% increase in downforce values, culminating in an impressive 660Kg at 150mph (242km/h).

For such a focused and special model, McLaren couldn't resist evoking the spiritual predecessor of the Mclaren P1 GTR. And coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of the victory of the McLaren F1 GTR in the 24h of Le Mans, a paint scheme similar to that of the number 51, the winner of the mythical race, was applied to the Mclaren P1 GTR.

It was the Mclaren F1 GTR sponsored by Harrods, chassis #06R, at the service of Mach One Racing and was one of the F1 specimens that spent the longest time in competition. Blessed are the gods for McLaren to have taken the opportunity for a new photo session of this historic F1 GTR and that you can delight in the gallery at the end of this article.

Despite being inspired by the F1 GTR, unfortunately we won't see the P1 GTR repeating feats of similar scale in competition. Redemption could come in a hypothetical and epic championship between the McLaren P1 GTR and the Ferrari FXX K. Will anyone dare to put these two face to face?
