The Honda N600 that swallowed a motorcycle... and survived

Anonim

A modified version of the Honda N600 is available for auction. A very sui generis micro-rocket…

Launched in 1967, the Honda N600 was the most powerful version of the N360. After almost half a century, an American enthusiast decided to get down to work and adapt his own copy (from 1972) to modern times, which is now for sale.

But those who think that this was a simple restoration must be disappointed. According to the seller, compared to the original model, only the hinges of the doors, the side windows and little else are left. In place of the 354cc engine we found a V4 engine from a 1998 Honda VFR800 – yes, from a motorcycle. The transformation was such that even the fuel tank was used, now serving as a cover for the engine.

NOT TO BE MISSED: New Honda S2000 in a year and a half?

Thanks to a four-wheel independent suspension (with Mazda MX-5 NA components), a Supertrapp exhaust system and a new rear-wheel drive system, the Honda N600 is now capable of surpassing 200 km/h – remember that the model original had a top speed of around 120 km/h.

In terms of aesthetics, the body was rebuilt and features Chevrolet Camaro bumpers – noise isolation hasn't been forgotten either. Inside, in addition to the redesigned central tunnel, the Japanese model gained a smaller steering wheel (13 inches) with paddles for sequential transmission, front seats of a Polaris RZR and the Honda VFR800's own instrument panel, as can be seen in the images.

At the time of publication of this article, the highest bidder for the Honda N600 was $12,000, about 10,760 euros.
