After the 3008, it's now the Peugeot 5008's turn to show its new face

This week the re-styled 3008 was made known to us, so predictably we wouldn't have to wait long for the Peugeot 5008 , his elongated “brother” of seven places, also appeared in renewed garments.

Despite not achieving the same sales volumes as its pair, the Peugeot 5008 is still a successful model, being one of the best-selling seven-seat SUV on the market. Since its launch in 2017, it has accumulated more than 300,000 units produced.

The aesthetic differences we knew from the 5008 reflect those we saw in the 3008.

The highlight is the new front, directly inherited from the revamped 3008. We can see the increasingly typical Peugeot luminous signature consisting of two “prongs” at the ends of the bumper, as well as the enlarged grille that extends to the new headlights. The inscription “5008” is also placed on the hood.

Still on the topic of appearance, and unlike the 3008, the revamped Peugeot 5008 adds a styling gear pack, called the Black Pack (images below), which adds a number of darkened elements.

Among them we have the grill/lion in Dark Chrome; in satin black we have several monograms and roof bars; in gloss black we have the “shells” at the front, the front fenders, roof and guard trim, and the rear bumper rim; the door bases are also in black; and finally, we have 19″ “Washington” wheels in Black Onyx and Black Mist varnish.

Inside

Inside, the differences found to the previous 5008 are identical to those found in the 3008. The Peugeot i-Cockpit gets a new 12.3″ digital instrument panel, as well as a new 10″ high definition touchscreen for the infotainment system.

The new coatings and respective chromatic combinations reflect those we mentioned for the 3008.

As always, the advantage of the additional 20 cm in length and 17 cm between axes of the Peugeot 5008 is the possibility of placing a third row of seats. If they are not needed, we can fold them, obtaining a super-generous 780 l of luggage capacity.

under the hood

It's under the hood that Peugeot's SUV pair diverge the most. Unlike the 3008, the Peugeot 5008 does not offer plug-in hybrid powertrains and is therefore limited to offering purely petrol and diesel powertrains.

So, on the gasoline side we have the 1.2 PureTech 130 hp (three-cylinder in-line and turbo), which can be combined with either a six-speed manual transmission, or an eight-speed automatic (torque converter) (EAT8),

The same happens with the Diesel engine 1.5 BlueHDI (four cylinders in line) 130 hp. However, the Peugeot 5008 keeps the most powerful in the catalog 2.0 BlueHDI , with 180 hp of power, only and only associated with the EAT8.

When arrives?

For the rest, the technological equipment and the restructuring of the range reflect those of the renovated 3008.

The renewed Peugeot 5008 is produced in France, at the plants in Sochaux and Rennes, and is scheduled to be sold later this year. Pricing information has not yet been provided.
