Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Wins Speedster and Shooting Brake

Anonim

Last year we got to know the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coupé, a very exclusive GT signed by Zagato – the historic Italian carrozzieri. An Italian-British connection that has lasted for six decades. And we didn't have to wait long for the corresponding convertible version, called the Steering Wheel.

Both models have already started production, and reflecting their exclusive character, both will be limited to 99 units each.

But Aston Martin and Zagato are not done with Vanquish Zagato. This year the number of bodies will grow to four, with the presentation of a Speedster and an intriguing Shooting Brake at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which opens its doors on the 20th of August.

Starting with the Speedster, and comparing it to the Volante, the main difference is the absence of the two (very small) rear seats, being limited to just and only two seats. This change allowed for a more extreme style in the rear deck definition, much more sports car than GT. The humps behind the seats have grown in size, and like the rest of the bodywork, they are “sculpted” in carbon fiber.

The Speedster will be the rarest element of all the Vanquish Zagato's, with just 28 units to be produced.

And if the Speedster is at the extremes of this very special Vanquish family, what about Shooting Brake? So far only a picture of your profile has been revealed and the proportions are dramatic. Despite the roof that extends horizontally towards the rear, the Shooting Brake, like the Speedster, will only have two seats. The new roof will, however, allow for increased versatility. Furthermore, Shooting Brake will come equipped with a set of specific bags for this model.

The roof itself features the characteristic double bosses that are already Zagato's hallmarks, accompanied by glass openings to allow light into the cabin. Like the Coupe and the Steering Wheel, the Shooting Brake will be produced in 99 units.

Apart from the implied differences between the two types, the Vanquish Zagato's have a body with a different modeling compared to other Vanquish's. The new front stands out, where the typical Aston Martin grille extends almost across the entire width and integrates the fog lamps. And at the rear, we can see the optics inspired by the Blade rear optics of Vulcan, the “monster” of the British brand designed for the circuits.

All Vanquish Zagato's are based on the Aston Martin Vanquish S, getting its 5.9-liter, naturally-aspirated V12, delivering 600 horsepower. The transmission is handled by an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Prices have not been released, but it is estimated that each of the 325 units – the sum of the production of all the bodies – was sold for prices in excess of 1.2 million euros. And all 325 units have already found a buyer.
