Aston Martin and Red Bull team up to develop a hypercar

“Project AM-RB 001” is the name of the project that links the two companies and which will result in a car from another world – that's what we hope…

The idea is not new, but it looks like the project will finally move forward. Red Bull has teamed up with Aston Martin to produce a new model, described by both brands as a “hypercar” of the future. The design will be in charge of Marek Reichman, the man behind the Aston Martin Vulcan and DB11, presented in Geneva, while Adrian Newey, technical director of Red Bull Racing, will be responsible for implementing Formula 1 technologies in this road legal model .

About the car, it is only known that it will have an engine in a central position, for the first time in the history of the British brand; it is estimated that this block will be assisted by electric motors. In addition, we will be able to count on sweeping power and high downforce indices. The first teaser has already been revealed (in the featured image), but there is still no date set for the presentation of the new model. Will we have rivals for LaFerrari, 918 and P1? We can only wait for more news.

In addition, with the partnership between the two brands, the new Red Bull RB12 will now display the name of Aston Martin on the sides and front on March 20th at the Australian GP, race that opens the 2016 season of the World Championship of Formula 1.

“This is an extremely exciting project for all of us at Red Bull Racing. Through this innovative partnership, the iconic Aston Martin logo will return to Grand Prix racing for the first time since 1960. In addition, Red Bull Advanced Technologies will leverage “Formula 1” DNA to produce the ultimate production car. It's an incredible project but also the fulfillment of a dream; we look forward to the realization of this partnership, which I am sure will be successful.

Christian Horner, head of the Red Bull Formula 1 team
