BMW seems to have a problem on its hands, numerous vehicles have been targeted by high tech thefts.
This is not just a matter of robbery, the thieves use a computer system to steal the vehicle. In just 2 minutes, thieves can get the car started, using just a blank BMW key and a portable computer system available for sale on the internet.
This type of robbery has become commonplace and is used all over the world. BMW, in response to the BBC television network, claims that the computer system is after the launch of the models and that it is working together with police forces around the world and with the SMMT (The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) of way to end the problem.
They also claim that this does not mean that the vehicles are defective, and that they are not legally obliged to carry out any type of action. However, as BMW is a brand that takes safety very seriously, an investigation process was soon launched.
The German brand strongly emphasizes that all cars strictly comply with all safety standards, and that there is no specific problem with BMW. Because like the Bavarian brand, other manufacturers face the same problem.
Both BMW and other brands and owners are victims of organized crime. A process is underway to tighten security on models such as the X5 (before September) and X6. BMW has contacted the owners and is in the field carrying out the necessary work.
BMW also reassures owners of the latest models, the new 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series are immune to this type of theft, in fact, no BMW built after September 2011 can be targeted by this method.
