If the input engine in the new Mercedes A-Class (Renault engine) is already the target of negative comments from those more attached to the star brand, then imagine what will happen after the confirmation of the plans for the creation of a Mercedes based on the platform of the next generation Renault Clio. Let the Germans prepare weapons now, because World War III is more imminent than ever.
The rumor was launched by Autobild and according to them, the X-Class could reach the European markets in 2018. It will be seen as a rival to the Mini and Audi A1, so it will position itself in the segment below the Mercedes A-Class. that many thought would never happen.
Despite (and here the 'although' there is a lot to be said…) of coming with the same platform as the future Renault Clio, the forecast is that the Mercedes X-Class will come with interiors and construction details far above the model it lends to it. the «skeleton». For Mercedes' sake, it's good that this is so, because if they present a model with the same class as a Clio, then the voices that protested against the launch of Renault engines in the Class A range will scream louder.
Autobild also says that three variants will be available: hatch, sedan and crossover. Engines can range from a 1.0 three-cylinder to a 1.5 four-cylinder. And finally, this Mercedes X-Class is expected to cost less than 20 thousand euros, in the base version. It is a case of saying: it will never be so easy to buy a Mercedes!
