Mazda 3 hits 5 million units

It is the second model of the brand to reach the mark of 5 million units produced. Apart from the Mazda 3, only the Mazda 323 had achieved this record.

In April, bottles of champagne were opened in Hiroshima – headquarters of the Japanese brand. If it wasn't champagne, it was sake (a typical drink in the land of the rising sun). If you haven't celebrated, either with one drink or another, then you should. It's not every day that a model reaches 5 million units produced.

In Mazda's case it is only the second time a model has reached this number – before the Mazda 3, only the Mazda 323 had reached this number. It took 12 years and 10 months until this number was reached, when the first generation of the model was launched.

The total production of the Mazda 3 has already surpassed the barrier of five million units until the end of the month of April, in a figure that includes not only the new generation, but also the previous ones in 12 years and 10 months since the first Mazda 3 was released in mid-2003.
