Betting on the car business is much more than building a prototype, launching it on the market and waiting to see the money come in.
With the intention of raising awareness of the importance of engineering in the UK, the company started a new campaign, “See inside Manufacturing”, to encourage young people to take a different view of the operation of a production centre.
The first big step in this campaign was to organize a competition, “Manufacturing Mclaren Challenge”, where students from some schools had to design and build a vehicle – without an engine – capable of covering 10 meters of distance.
The propulsion mousetrap designed by Colégio Woking won the challenge, recording a time of 2.28s. The winning students were honored to receive the award from the hands of British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Examples like this are what our country needs, and not raising taxes on everything that moves. Anyway…
