Maserati Levante will have a hybrid version in 2018

The Italian brand had promised to enter the hybrid segment in 2020, but it seems, the Maserati Levante will be available with a hybrid engine as early as the end of next year or early 2018.

In an interview with MotorTrend, the brand's CEO, Harald Wester, confirmed that the new SUV will share components with Chrysler Pacifica, the new MPV for the American brand. “An independent show would be suicidal, so we have to look at the FCA itself,” commented Harald Wester.

Before the arrival of the hybrid engine, the new Maserati Levante will be marketed with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, with 350 hp or 430 hp, and a 3.0-liter, 275 hp V6 turbodiesel block. The two engines interact with an intelligent “Q4” all-wheel drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Production of the Maserati Levante has already started and its arrival on the European market is scheduled for this spring. The advertised price for the Portuguese market is 106 108 euros.
