Study says the Porsche 911 is able to increase testosterone

The size and price of toys is the only thing that distinguishes men and boys. The son has miniatures to scale and the father drives the last saloon on the bell.

A group of Canadian researchers decided to observe the behavior of 39 randomly selected young people in two situations: first they would have to drive a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet for around €150,000 in a street crowded with real female gallants; then the same task would be performed in a desert road setting. In a second phase, the same boys covered exactly the same routes, but this time behind the wheel of a modest 1993 Toyota Camry.

Along each route, the volunteers' testosterone level was measured using saliva samples. The results are to be expected…

When it comes to driving a luxury sports car, testosterone levels skyrocket. Interestingly, the female audience does not influence this increase. In the case of the “old can” Toyota, testosterone levels did not change significantly.

“Sports cars like Porsche models end up working like a peacock's tail. It's the man's need to assert his manly character and to show the female that he is the best option, as he can drive a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet and competitors can't, nor rent one.”| Gad Saad (Professor of Marketing at Concordia University's John Molson School of Business)

However, Saad doesn't believe the car will direct a man's libido in the long run. At best, it will be a way of asserting his social status.

Now here among us that no one listens to us (don't let your girlfriends read this), despite a Porsche being too small for some casualty inside it, it's certainly a (scientific!) guarantee for success abroad.
