It was with pomp and circumstance that Skoda introduced two new members of the Octavia family at once to Vienna.

The first images of the Skoda Octavia RS had already been revealed a couple of weeks ago, but even so the Czech brand was not shy about presenting its new sports car in the limousine and van variants for the first time to the public – which we've already talked about here.

As you'd expect, the sports version of the Skoda bestseller also incorporates the new design lines of the recent facelift of the Octavia range – including the new front section that has been so talked about. Therefore, in addition to the redesigned grille and dual headlights (with LED technology), the air intakes were revised, as well as the bumpers, while the rear track grew 30 mm in width compared to the previous model.

In dynamic terms, the new Octavia RS is now 15 mm closer to the ground, thanks to a new sports suspension, and has wheels between 17 and 19 inches with brake calipers painted red or silver. An optional exhaust sound amplification system is also available.

Inside, the renewed sports range has a new infotainment and connectivity system – with a screen between 8 and 9.2 inches – and sports seats in Alcantara leather.

In terms of performance, the new Octavia RS can be summed up in just one sentence: is the most powerful Skoda ever (at least until this one arrives… click here) . The brand's engineers managed to extract another 10 hp from the well-known 2.0 TSI engine, setting power at 230 hp and torque at 350 Nm. Coupled (standard) to a six-speed manual transmission, it's with the DSG dual-clutch gearbox. six ratios that the Octavia RS best expresses itself – accelerations from 0 to 100 km/h are achieved in 6.7 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h.

The Diesel offer remains unchanged, with the 184 hp 2.0 TDI engine available with an all-wheel drive system. Here, the consumptions announced by the Czech brand stand out: 4.5 l/100km.

As you can see from the images, the new Skoda Octavia RS is available in a three-volume version but also in a minivan version. The Octavia range is completed with the more adventurous Scout version, also unveiled.
