If the GTC4Lusso were a coupe it would be this "one-off" Ferrari BR20

Anonim

The Ferrari BR20 is the most recent one-off of the Cavallino Rampante brand, it took more than a year to finish and always with the close involvement of the customer, who for now remains anonymous.

The BR20 is inspired by the tradition of Ferrari's large V12 coupés from the 50s and 60s of the last century, which include models such as the elegant 410 SA or the 500 Superfast.

The starting point was the Italian brand's four-seater shooting brake, the GTC4Lusso (which ceased to be produced in 2020), but which appears here transformed into a long and distinguished coupé with only two seats, maintaining the mechanics, it seems , without changes.

In other words, under its long hood is a naturally aspirated V12 with 6.3 liters of capacity, 690 hp of maximum power at 8000 rpm, coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive.

From shooting brake to coupe

Predictably, it turns out to be the design of this unique copy that focuses all the attention.

Even having lost two places to the GTC4Lusso, the Ferrari BR20 is 76 mm longer (a consequence of the elongated rear span), with the length now brushing 5.0 m in length. All to achieve the perfect coupé silhouette with the best possible proportions.

This silhouette was achieved by radically redefining the roof line where Ferrari designers, led by Flavio Manzoni, the brand's head of design, wanted to give the impression of being formed by just a pair of arches that extend from the base of the pillar. A to the rear spoiler.

Ferrari being Ferrari didn't do it halfway and aerodynamically optimized the new rear section of the BR20. For that, he turned to a solution from the recent past, the "floating" C-pillars (similar to flying buttresses, as in Gothic architecture) that we saw in the 599 GTB Fiorano, and reinterpreted them.

The air is channeled through these 'floating' pillars and then expelled from the rear, in a concealed air outlet, located under the rear spoiler. Also at the rear, the pair of circular optics stands out (in the best Ferrari tradition) and the generous rear diffuser that contains active fins on its underside.

Nothing seems to have been carried over directly from the GTC4Lusso without receiving some kind of modification or having simply been replaced. From the donor headlamps, which are narrower here, to the exhaust outlets and 20-inch wheels specific for the BR20.

The absence of rear seats also forced the interior to be reformulated, although what stands out are the majority of the leather coverings in two tones of brown, combined with carbon fiber parts, for a unique atmosphere.

The seats, in addition to the leather upholstery in a dark brown tone (Heritage Testa di Moro) also feature an exclusive pattern as well as a silver stitching.

The Ferrari BR20 is the latest addition to the Italian brand's growing list of unique models, but many more are to be expected. Ferrari even reported in 2019 that it had a five-year waiting list for these special projects of its own.
