New Skoda Superb: evolution in every way

Anonim

The new Skoda Superb has just been unveiled. It totally breaks the connection with its predecessor in terms of design and reinforces the arguments carried over from previous generations.

We had already said here that the new Skoda Superb will stir the waters in the saloon segment. Like? In good Skoda fashion. Without much fuss, big highlights or absolute firsts in technology, just choosing judiciously and rationally some of the best components of the Volkswagen Group. All in all, to create a package that combines interior space, construction rigor and a price/quality ratio that is the brand's flagship.

No less important is the design, and then Skoda has made a big little revolution in the Superb. Current and in line with the latest models of the brand, the design of the new Skoda Superb clearly breaks with its predecessors.

Inside, the path followed was the same. A clean design, combined with a choice of materials that try to demonstrate a concern with ergonomics and comfort above any other pretension, namely sport. In the technological field, the Skoda Superb will be available with four infotainment systems (one of them compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), heated seats, panoramic roof, tri-zone air conditioning and Canton sound system, among others gadgets.

Following Skoda's Simply Clever philosophy, the Superb also has those little ideas that make everyday life easier, such as the torch in the trunk, the umbrella built into the door or the ice scraper in the fuel tank.

In the field of safety, we can count on adaptive cruise control, lane maintenance assistant, active passenger protection and an automatic vehicle immobilization system in case of danger – among other systems that are already standard in the segment.

As for engines, the choice is vast. It starts at 125hp from the 1.4 TSI engine and ends at 280hp from the 2.0TSI version. In Diesels, the 120hp 1.6 TDI engine will be the most economical option, while the 190hp 2.0 TDI will be the more powerful version. All engines except the 125hp TSI block can be paired with a dual-clutch DSG box.
