The Abarth 695 has just received a new special collector's edition, called 695 Essesse, which will have a production limited to just 1930 units.
This is a name with tradition in the history of the scorpion brand and takes us back to the beginnings of Abarth.
Now, for this new creation, Abarth's engineers and designers were inspired precisely by a 1964 model, the “Cinquino” prepared as a 695 Esseesse, which had a displacement increased to 690 cm3 and 38 hp that took it up to 140 km/h.
With only 1000 units produced, this small — but nervous! — scorpion was also notable for its emblems with the monogram “SS” in capital letters on the hood and the inscription “esseesse” on the dashboard.
For this 21st century model, the formula was the same, but with the performance and behavior you would expect from today's model. Everything was explored to achieve the best aerodynamics, the best balance and the lowest weight.
Compared to the Abarth 595 Competizione, this 695 Esseesse achieved a reduction of approximately 10 kg, thanks to the use of a new double-curved aluminum hood that reduces weight by 25% compared to a normal hood and an Akrapovic exhaust system.
But even more impressive is the rear spoiler, which not only evokes the brand's history in competition but also improves cornering stability and increases responsiveness in mixed sections.
In the highest position (60º) and at a speed of 200 km/h the “Spoiler ad Assetto Variabile” — can be adjusted between 0 and 60º — is capable of generating an additional 42 kg of aerodynamic load.
Aggressive image… inside and out
The exterior image of this 695 Esseesse is only complete with the white details on the front deflector, mirror covers and side stickers. In addition to all this, the 17” wheels with red center stand out, red Brembo brake calipers and titanium exhaust pipes.
The exclusivity of this version is also felt in the cabin, with the Sabelt seats including the inscription “ONE OF 695” on the headrest and with the seams matching the exterior color, which can only be in “Black Scorpione” or “ Campovolo Grey”.
On the dashboard, the Alcantara-coated strip stands out and the inscription “695 Esseesse” can be read, which combines perfectly with the carbon fiber details found on the gearbox lever, pedals and steering wheel.
A very nervous scorpion...
Driving this scorpion is a 1.4 T-jet engine that produces 180 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm, figures that allow the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h to be made in 6.7s and to reach those 225 km/h top speed (with the spoiler at 0º).
Combined with a manual gearbox or, as an option, a sequential robotic gearbox with paddle control, this 695 Esseesse also features Koni suspensions on both axles and a braking system with 4-piston Brembo calipers at the front and self-ventilating discs. 305/240 mm at the back.
