This is the new BMW X3 2015. After some images have surfaced online, BMW has decided to raise the bar and present the new BMW X3 2015 before its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The BMW X3 2015 debuts at the Geneva Motor Show where it will make its first appearance with the European public and the following month in April, at the New York Motor Show for the American market. Marketing on the national market starts in June. More elegant on the outside and in line with the rest of the Bavarian brand's range, the front and bumper are renewed, contrasting with the rear, which remains practically unchanged.
Inside, the cabin has been “freshened”, with the center console and premium materials being the focus of the brand's designers. As on the outside, the interior of the BMw X3 2015 is in line with the evolution of the other models. This is a very important model for BMW and its more compact BMW X5 look is more evident than ever. With more of "restyling" than "new model", it is an end to the various changes that the model has been undergoing, reaching a version that aligns with the rest of the model range.
World premiere of new diesel engine
If in aspect the BMW X3 2015 seems to bring few new features, the same cannot be said of the engines. Under the bonnet, we can choose to place 7 different engines (four diesel and 3 gasoline), with powers ranging from 150 to 313 hp. The BMW X3 2015 brings with it a «new engine» 2 liter diesel, with 190 hp and 400 nm, which will carry the abbreviation 20d (as we can see in the photos). It is the world premiere of this new engine, which in addition to providing 6 hp more power than its predecessor, is less "greedy".
BMW announces a consumption reduction of around 7.1% and a revised combined consumption, which can be around 5 l/100km, if they choose to install 17″ wheels combined with the fourth generation of low-friction tyres, available for the model. But in terms of savings, technology also helps: BMW EfficientDynamics offers an automatic start stop system and energy regeneration with braking, which combined with all the other ecological options available, allows a reduction in CO2 emissions by 7g/km. This new engine should soon join the other BMW models.
In terms of driver-centric technology and entertainment, the offer was also renewed with new gadgets from BMW. The BMW X3 2015 brings the iDrive system with touch pad, which allows the insertion of text and numbers, drawing them (technology also available from the competitor Audi), Parking Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Active Cruise Control and preventive protection for pedestrians. The infotainment system will allow the integration of applications such as Facebook, Twitter and Napster. Last but not least, the smart boot opening system: allows you to open the tailgate just by sliding your foot under the rear bumper, which is not new, it comes in very handy!
