The Maserati Alfieri was presented today, the concept from which the replacement for the successful Maserati Granturismo will be born.
Winds of change are blowing in Maserati. The Italian make of the Fiat Group presents itself in Geneva with redoubled strength: new models; new platforms; and new engines. Among so many novelties, one of the most anticipated was the presentation of the concept that will give rise to the replacement of the Maserati Granturismo.
Its replacement is called Maserati Alfieri, a coupé with aggressive lines with 100% Italian DNA: a long fastback-style roof, a huge grille and all the details that make this a Maserati. Inside, of course, rests a restless and noble Italian mechanic: a 4.7L V8 engine with 460hp. Therefore, a serious competitor to the Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911.
As for the name, the brand decided to honor one of its founders: Alfieri Maserati. An engineer and pilot, Alfieri was, along with his two brothers, one of the founders of Maserati and one of the most outstanding engineers of his generation. Together, they created a brand that is still one of the main ambassadors of the Italian automotive industry today.
