Second generation Audi A1 closer and closer

For now, it is known that the new generation of the Audi A1 will grow in all directions, following the trend of the new Ibiza and the future Polo — models with which it will share the platform. The similarities with these two other proposals from the VW Group extend even to the end of the three-door bodywork, a variant in less and less demand in Europe.

In the range of engines, the focus will be on three-cylinder petrol blocks and a second phase on a hybrid engine. The spicy S1 version will be released later, and the latest rumors point to 250 horsepower and a quattro all-wheel-drive system.

In terms of aesthetics, as usual, Audi has strived to hide the lines of the new model. That's why designer Remco Meulendijk went to work and created his own interpretation of the German utility vehicle, taking inspiration from the new Audi Q2 and the Prologue prototype launched in 2014. The new front grille, side skirts, rear bumpers and groups Redesigned optics are the highlights of this design that anticipates the new A1.

The world unveiling of the new generation Audi A1 could take place — at best — at the next Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
