The fifth generation Honda CR-V has just been unveiled. These are the main news.

It is with a more robust model and a renewed design that Honda intends to “take by storm” the competitive segment of compact SUVs. The Honda CR-V remains faithful to the visual identity of the Japanese brand, but in relation to the generation it has more defined lines and even larger dimensions (the wheelbase has increased by 41 millimeters), two ingredients highlighted in this new model.

Inside, the horizontal lines are still present but now with a new seven-inch screen, with the brand's latest generation infotainment system. Honda also highlights the evolution in build quality and also in terms of ergonomics – the rear passenger's legroom has increased by 53 millimeters and the luggage capacity has increased to a total of 1104 liters.

“The new Honda CR-V raises the bar in every possible and imaginable way, in terms of performance, space and content premium , along with better fuel economy. Customers will love the look of this model as well as the experience behind the wheel.”

Jeff Conrad, Vice President of Honda

GLORIES OF THE PAST: It was forgotten in a garage for over 20 years, now it will be restored in Portugal

As for the engines, the Japanese brand surrendered to the "silver of the house" and, for the first time, chose to use the same 1.5 liter turbo gasoline engine as the Honda Civic, which delivers 190 hp in the CR-V – instead of the 180 hp hatchback. The 2.4 liter four-cylinder atmospheric block returns with 184 hp and 244 Nm. Both engines are equipped with an automatic transmission (CVT) and Honda G-Shift technology of front or all-wheel drive (optional).

The Honda CR-V will make its debut next month at the Los Angeles Motor Show in its American-market version (pictured). Everything indicates that the model for the European markets – which in principle should not differ much – will only reach the “old continent” at the end of next year.
