These are the last Dodge Viper in history

The Dodge Viper is nearing its end. There's nothing better than celebrating 25 years of the iconic model with several special editions.

It had already been announced that 2017 would mark the end of Viper production. But it doesn't go away quietly. When you have a colossal 8.4-litre V10 engine, discretion is in the realm of impossibility.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the vile creature, Dodge was not begged, and released not one, but five special editions of the most powerful «vipers». All of them properly identified, numbered and with certified documentation. Is better! Four of the special editions stem from the circuit-shattering version, read ACR (American Club Racing), which last year obliterated the records, all certified, for 13 US circuits, including the legendary Laguna Seca, leaving behind machines newer and more sophisticated like the Porsche 918.

The first of the five editions is entitled precisely 1.28 Edition ACR, in allusion to the time obtained in Laguna Seca. Limited to 28 units, it comes exclusively in black, with wide longitudinal red stripes. And just like the record-setting viper, it comes equipped with the same arsenal, which includes carbon brakes and the most extreme aerodynamic package available, equipment that also comes with the other special editions derived from the Viper ACR.

Limited to 100 units, comes the Viper GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR, which recovers the classic and most popular paintings of the model, white with blue stripes. It was the paint that served another special edition of the 1998 Viper after winning the FIA GT2 Championship.

With the most suggestive name of the group, the Viper VooDoo II Edition ACR also retrieves another special edition, from 2010, limited to 31 units, like its predecessor. And identically decorated, in black, with a narrow graphite stripe lined with conductor.

At the moment, there are still no images of the last special edition derived from the Viper ACR. Which will only be available through the two dealers that more Dodge Viper sold, justifying the name Viper Dealer Edition ACR. An original way of saying “thank you”? The 33 specimens will be white, with a central blue stripe and one lined with the conductor in red.

Finally, the only special edition that does not derive from the specialized ACR is the Snakeskin Edition GTC. As the name implies, this version comes in a serpentine green color, complemented by two black bands filled in with a pattern evocative of the crawling predator that gives it its name. This version will be limited to just 25 units. As a farewell, you couldn't ask for much more. In a world where even supercars are increasingly polished, sophisticated and civilized, the Dodge Viper counters this current with its brutality, bad manners and divergent character.
