Is BMW M5 Touring Back?

Another concept drawing by Hungarian designer X-Tomi, this time from the “Touring” variant of BMW's M Performance division.

Almost a decade has passed since BMW launched what is one of the most radical vans ever, the BMW M5 Touring (E61 generation). Aside from the M Performance acronym on the rear and the four tailpipes, the M5 Touring almost looked like a normal truck. Almost… Under the hood we found a glorious atmospheric V10 engine with 510hp of power, and whoever drove it assured that the additional 100 kg on the scale (compared to the saloon) barely made itself felt, such was the dynamics of the set.

Since the end of its production in 2010, the M5 Touring has been sidelined by the Munich brand. With the launch of the new BMW M5 (F90) scheduled for next year, BMW has a golden opportunity here to bring its sports van back.

Therefore, Hungarian designer X-Tomi decided to give it a “little push” and created his own interpretation of the upcoming BMW M5 Touring, based on the recently launched BMW 5 Series (G30). In addition to the new rear section, it is worth noting the more muscular bodywork, which includes a front bumper and more pronounced side skirts.

As for the engine, if materialized, the BMW M5 Touring would be equipped with a variant of the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 block, with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an estimated power of over 600hp. We are waiting for more news from Bavaria. BMW, please!
