The second generation Mini Countryman wants to combine efficiency with driving pleasure.

It is the start of a new phase for the BMW Group brand. Mini's first hybrid model is still in development, but the brand has made a point of revealing some details about the next Countryman.

Similar to the BMW 225xe plug-in hybrid, the new Countryman has a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric unit, responsible for bringing traction to the rear axle. Both engines work at the same time, ensuring “efficient energy management” with the help of a six-speed automatic transmission and a 7.6 kWh lithium-ion battery – which in the case of the BMW 225xe offers 100% autonomy. 40 km tram.

The plug-in hybrid system is indeed the big news for the new Countryman, but according to Sebastian Mackensen, vice president of the brand, the priority was not just efficiency but also driving pleasure:

“In a hybrid Mini, driving in electric mode should also be an exhilarating experience. This means that driving should not be limited to speeds of 30 or 40 km/h, but rather to speeds well above the normal pace of city traffic"

The new Countryman was presented by the British brand in the form of a prototype, as you can see in the images, making it possible to foresee a model in aesthetic terms not very different from the current one. We can only wait for more news from the Bavarian brand.
