Crisis? What crisis!? BMW has declared war on the crisis and has just unveiled its expensive new weapon. And what a weapon…
The legendary M emblem is once again present on the flanks of the BMW 6 Series model. And we all know what that means, don't we? Overwhelming services, more refined behavior and an even stronger presence.
From the previous generation to the new only the name carries over, as we had already seen in the less powerful versions of the 6 Series. The previous atmospheric V10 engine gave way to a new twin-scroll bi-turbo V8 that guarantees brilliant performance, but with more frugal consumption. The same one we found under the hood of the BMW M5.

BMW announces numbers that speak for themselves: 560 hp available between 5750 and 7000 rpm and a maximum torque – pay close attention… – of 680Nm, constant between 1500 and 5750 rpm! And all this “joy” is delivered only to the rear axle, through the competent 7-speed gearbox with double clutch, our familiar from the M5.
If on the outside it's the panacea of air inlets and outlets that you can see in the photos that accompany this news or in our gallery dedicated to the model (by clicking here), inside there is sobriety and good taste that contrast with the intensive use of high technology . In this new M6 – which is clearly more bourgeois than its predecessor – we can find luxury equipment such as the Bang & Olufsen hi-fi sound system or the pedestrian recognition night vision system, more typical of a saloon car. luxury than a thoroughbred sports car.

But that has an explanation. The new M6 is no longer trying to be what it never really was: a super sports car. And it started to try to be what it always really was: a Gran Turismo. A high-performance car, with very competent behavior, but at the same time focused on the comfort and convenience of its occupants. Forget the hard and sometimes uncomfortable M6, like the sofa I'm on now… The new M6 with all its array of suspension and chassis adjustment solutions promises to be as comfortable as those massage chairs pensioners buy. But much, much faster of course.
