Discover all the details of the new Porsche 911 Turbo (991).

The 991 generation of the acclaimed German sports car Porsche 911 now knows its Turbo version, undoubtedly one of the most emblematic of the 911 range. And the Stuttgart brand could not have chosen a better time to present this new generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo: it is celebrating the 50 years of 911's life, as we've already reported here. And truth be told, age doesn't pass him by. It's like wine, the older the better! And the most recent vintages deserve a seal of quality...

After a somewhat troubled phase in the 996 series, the 997 and 991 series once again put what is considered by many to be the most versatile super sports in the world, in a position in keeping with its status. But back to the new Turbo version…

911 Turbo S Coupé

It's almost everything new in this Porsche 911 Turbo and among the technological resources of this generation we highlight the new lighter and more efficient four-wheel drive system, the debut of a steered rear wheel system, adaptive aerodynamics and of course, the jewel in the crown : a «flat-six» engine (as tradition dictates…) equipped with two state-of-the-art variable geometry turbos, which together generate 560hp of power in the Turbo S version of the Porsche 911.

In the less powerful version, this six-cylinder 3.8 engine continues to impress, after all 520hp is delivered to the four-wheels! 40hp more than in the version that ceased functions. But if on the one hand the Porsche 911 Turbo gained more power and more technological arguments, on the other it lost something that some will miss: the manual gearbox. Like the GT3 version, the Turbo version will only have the competent PDK double-clutch gearbox available, and this scenario is not expected to be reversed.

911 Turbo S Coupé: Interieur

If the fun from the point of view of the most radical is a bit pinched, from the point of view of the spared there is nothing but reason to smile. The German brand claims the lowest fuel consumption ever for a Porsche 911 Turbo, around 9.7l per 100km in part due to the efficiency of the PDK box. But naturally, what matters most in a car of this nature is performance. And those yes, more than the consumptions, are truly impressive. The Turbo version takes just 3.1 seconds from 0-100km/h while the Turbo S version still manages to steal a meager 0.1 seconds from 0 to 100km/h. While the speed hand climb only ends when we run at the nice speed of 318km/h.

With these numbers, it is no surprise that we know that Porsche claims for its Porsche 911 Turbo a time of just 7:30 sec. on the way back to the legendary Nurburgring circuit.
