According to the latest rumors, Mercedes-AMG has in its hands a super sports car with 1300 hp, which will be launched next year.

Mercedes-AMG R50 is, according to AutoBild, the name of the new Mercedes-AMG project, a “competition sport for the road” to face the McLaren P1, LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder, which will be launched in 2017, in time of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Mercedes-AMG.

For this, and according to these rumors, Mercedes-AMG will have bet on a hybrid technology inspired by Formula 1: two electric engines on the front axle – each with 150 hp – and a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo block with 1000 hp (?? ?), for a total of allegedly 1300 horsepower. This two-seater model will allegedly also have a body made of carbon fiber – the objective will be to maintain a weight of less than 1300 kg, for a perfect weight-to-power ratio.

Another of the highlights is the adaptive suspension and four directional wheels, a technology debuted on the Mercedes AMG GT R and which allows the rear wheels to turn in the opposite direction to the front up to 100 km/h, for greater stability and control in corners. Above this speed, the rear wheels follow the direction of the front wheels, for greater stability.

In terms of aesthetics, aerodynamics will be the main priority, and as such a very narrow cockpit and a lower driving position are expected. If confirmed, the Mercedes-AMG R50 will have an affordable price for a few wallets – between 2 and 3 million euros. The production of the German sports car could start at the end of this year, and who knows, maybe it won't even have the help of world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Razão Automóvel contacted Mercedez-Benz, which confirmed that it was just a rumor, with no official confirmation as of the date of publication of this article.
