Have you noticed the images? It's true, Portugal was the chosen stage for the first 'stretching your legs' for the new Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupé.
Strong muscles need exercise, and Portugal was the training center chosen for the first stretches of the new Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupé. Timed training in Portimão, marathons in Serra da Arrábida and all over the place rubber stretching were some of the exercises that were part of a training plan that began in Germany, in Affalterbach – AMG headquarters. Why so much work? There are scores to settle with renowned athletes: BMW M4, Lexus RC F and Audi RS5, among others.The technical changes are evident at first glance: noticeably wider front and rear fenders, wider lane widths and larger diameter wheels that give the Coupé a muscular look, while at the same time giving it the basis for high longitudinal dynamics and side. But the C63 Coupé isn't just about looks, there's real muscle hidden in the chassis. The AMG 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine is once again present and appears in this model in two versions: one with 476 hp and the other with 510 hp, the most powerful being the S version. With these numbers, the C63 S Coupé accelerates. 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and the C 63 Coupé in 4.0 seconds. This makes the Coupé just a fraction of a second faster than the Limousine – thanks to the wider tires and shorter rear axle transmission ratio. The maximum speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited; 290 km/h with the AMG Driver Pack).
This engine was fully developed in Affalterbach, as well as the sophisticated AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT transmission mode configuration, the limited-slip differential on the rear axle (mechanical in the normal version and electronic in the S) and the struts engine dynamics.
Note also for the exhaust system with engine sound control butterfly, which varies the presence of exhaust noise according to needs. In sport mode it gives us the ultimate sound of a V8 engine and in travel mode it sends the powerful AMG engine to a more discreet register.

In the words of his trainer, Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, “the new C 63 Coupé embodies our concept of progress. It offers impressive dynamics at an extremely high level, together with improved fuel economy,” he says. “In addition, the vehicle conveys a bold look with its muscular design. Our customers can therefore feel the progress with all their senses: watching, listening, feeling and, above all, driving!”.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will celebrate its world premiere on September 15, 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). The market launch will take place in March 2016.
