Range Rover Sport SVR: the SUV of the in a hurry

With official presentation scheduled for August 14, during the Pebble Beach event, the Jaguar – Land Rover partnership today unveiled its latest creation: the Range Rover Sport SVR. Simply the fastest Land Rover ever.

The Range Rover Sport SVR presents itself as the fastest vehicle to leave the British house's assembly lines and achieves it using the brand's well-known 5.0l supercharged V8 block, but with some improvements that leave it to charge a few powerful 542 hp and 680Nm.

An engine with these capabilities needs an exhaust system to match, and for that an active system was used to keep this wolf in a sheepskin at low revs, but show all its sounding glory at higher revs.

The most dynamic behavior is ensured by an aluminum monocoque, as is already the brand's tradition. Adding to the dynamism of this British ruffian is the suspension, all in aluminium, with double wishbones at the front and a multi-link system at the rear. All for the Range Rover Sport SVR to be able to handle its weight and the speeds it is capable of achieving. To ensure quick and accurate gear changes, an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission is used.

On the outside, it has more aggressive elements, which serve not only an aesthetic purpose, but also efficiency, improving the cooling of various components as well as aerodynamics.

The interior (as it couldn't be otherwise…) is leather, but this time the front seats would be more easily associated with an Italian sports car – we suspect that Jaguar has given it a “helping hand” here – than with a Land Rover. Various carbon fiber components are also included in a simple interior that manages to be elegantly sporty.

Although the power values are enormous, Land Rover maintains the tradition and continues to integrate all-terrain solutions even in this Range Rover Sport SVR that asserts itself with a clearly sporty and road-going character. The Terrain Responde 2 system will be part of the solutions for the most demanding terrain, as well as a two-speed transfer box and permanent 4-wheel drive. The suspension remains adaptive hydraulics.

The result of the joint effort is evident in the 8 minutes and 14 seconds that it took the Range Rover Sport SVR to complete the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit.
