26 years after the first Mazda MX-5, we present you the latest competition version of the Japanese brand, the Mazda MX-5 Cup.
For anyone who has driven the new Mazda MX-5, it's hard to imagine a more fun version of the Japanese sports car to drive, but apparently it's possible. As we already reported last May, the latest Mazda MX-5 Cup will serve as the basis for the Japanese brand's monobrand trophies around the world. The power is the same as the previous version – a 2 liter engine that produces 160 hp. – but the new racing Mazda is now lighter, weighing less than 1 ton. As you would expect, the latest generation of the sport is faster than the previous one, having completed the Willow Springs Racing circuit in less than 2.2 seconds.

Stronger gearbox, lighter transmission coolers, a bigger radiator, improved suspension and a custom exhaust manifold are the features that take this Mazda MX-5 Cup to the next level.
Inside, so there are no distractions, we find only the essentials: a racing seat, digital panel and a smaller steering wheel. And in our opinion, it's all that's needed to enjoy the unique driving experience of a track-oriented MX-5.
