Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus wants to smash Nürburgring record with 003S

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus announced that the SCG 003S should be able to make a lap around the Nürburgring circuit in just 6 minutes and 30 seconds. It will be the fastest production car on the German track.

Six minutes and 30 seconds is 27 seconds less than the time achieved by the Porsche 918 Spyder. It's definitely fast, really fast. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus advances this figure for the SCG 003S (Stradale), the road model derived from the 003C (Competizione).

The absolute record at the Nürburgring has stood since 1983. Stefan Bellof, driving a Porsche 956, managed 6:11 minutes during the 1000 km Nürburgring. The SCG 003S will only be 20 seconds away from that time.

More surprising is to see that the SCG 003S will achieve this feat on road tyres, and will be faster than the SCG 003C. The competition model, participating in the GT championships, managed 6:42 minutes. With no regulations to comply with, the 003S does not have to deal with restrictions applied to the engine or the addition of ballast.

The specs to conquer “Green Hell”

As such, the SCG 003S will even do without the V6 of the 003C. In its place we will find a 4.4 liter twin turbo V8, derived from a BMW unit. Power is estimated to be above 750hp and torque around 800Nm. Compare that with the 3.5-litre twin turbo V6 and a restrictive 500hp from the 003C, measured during the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.

The weight also favors the road version, with SCG announcing less than 1300 kg. The competition car is 1350 kg. With numbers of this magnitude, the scuderia predicts an acceleration of less than three seconds up to the 100 km/h of the 003S and a top speed of over 350 km/h.

Other known specifications include carbon-ceramic discs supplied by Brembo, and the transmission will be powered by a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

It will be in the aerodynamic chapter that the SCG 003S stands out and differentiates from other hypercars, such as the Porsche 918 Spyder. With valuable knowledge inherited from the 003C on the circuit, the 003S promises 2G of lateral acceleration, and over 700kg of downforce at 250km/h.

NOT TO BE MISSED: Special. The big news at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show

With such a description, it's easy to forget that the 003S is a model for the road. The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus promises a comfortable and wearable machine. Inside the FIA-spec carbon fiber monocoque, you'll find leather-covered seats, automatic air conditioning and electrically adjustable shock absorbers. It will also include a height-to-the-ground elevation system, both front and rear, to deal with the worst access ramps.

The 003S will be a unique machine, no doubt about it. Even if only for the price, which should be well above a million euros. Definitive specifications will be made known during the next Geneva Motor Show.
