After the rumors… confirmation: the Nurburgring circuit is officially for sale!
In July 2012 some rumors began to circulate that pointed to the possibility of technical bankruptcy of the mythical Nürburgring circuit. Before long, these rumors gave rise to certainty - the tragedy everyone feared was imminent. At the time, movements were even created to support the circuit. Among them the well-known Save The Ring movement, with a strong presence on social networks.
Now, Jens Lieser, the German state delegate responsible for the folder, has confirmed that the "great ring" is for sale but that it is not yet clear whether the circuit will be sold in parts or in full. The same highlights that of the 50 possible initial investors, only between 5 to 10 buyers are able to pay an amount that could be around 125 million euros.
The blame, according to some of the members of the «Save The Ring» movement, lies with the circuit's latest administrations, which through projects such as a theme park and other collateral investments in the circuit created excessive debt.
There is no car or motorsport lover who does not have a special affection for the Nürburgring. After all, the 'Green Inferno' is just one of the busiest and most historic circuits in Europe. Let's see how this novel ends…
