After the concept presented at the Los Angeles Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz shows the world the definitive version of the most powerful version of its cross-over, a week before the live presentation at the Detroit Motor Show.
The AMG division insists on making more powerful versions of all Mercebes-Benz models, and we are grateful. Of course the GLA range could not be left out. As such, it was given the powerful 2L turbo engine with 360hp and 450Nm, just the most powerful 4-cylinder standard engine ever. Furthermore, it also complies with EU 6 standards, emitting 175g/km of CO2. Consumptions? The GLA 45 AMG consumes 7.5L for every 100km covered. Extremely "optimistic" values.
As for the performance of the GLA, 250 km/h of top speed and 4.8 seconds of 100km/h are announced. Such numbers are possible, not only thanks to the powerful engine but also to the four-wheel drive AMG 4MATIC and the fast 7-speed DCT transmission with a focus on performance. The four-point multi-link rear suspension has also been improved to better grip the GLA 45 AMG to the tarmac.
On the outside, you can count on the usual AMG aggressiveness: front splitter and AMG “Twin Blade” grille, both painted in matte grey; the rear is dominated by the characteristic diffuser and 4 chrome tailpipes. If that's not enough, the exterior can be complemented with mirrors, splitters and side inserts in carbon fiber as well as brake calipers painted red, among many other customization options offered by the “Carbon-fiber” and “Night” packs.
The interior points to the exclusivity and quality already usual at the AMG, without ever forgetting the sporty soul. The sports seats can be customized with combinations of leather and micro-fiber and the seat belts are red, and if necessary, you can opt for seats with lateral headguards and better lateral supports.
The three-arm multi-function steering wheel can also be customized with leather or Alcantara. Again, and as it never hurts to mention, there is also the carbon fiber pack for the interior. The GLA 45 AMG will begin shipping in March 2014.
