SEAT introduced the new SEAT Ibiza to the public at the Geneva Motor Show. These are the images of the new SEAT model, live at the Swiss event.
About a month after its world revelation in Barcelona, the new SEAT Ibiza appeared on stage in the Swiss salon. The fifth generation Ibiza is one of the most important for the Spanish brand and has been under development since 2014.LIVEBLOG: Follow the Geneva Motor Show live here
On the exterior of the new SEAT Ibiza, the connection to the SEAT Leon is obvious, particularly in the front section. The front grille, air intakes and light groups have been redesigned to add a sportier character to the new Ibiza. At the rear, the headlights and bumpers were also revised.
Inside the cabin, also completely overhauled, is the latest generation of the brand's infotainment system, placed in the center on the new dashboard.
In addition to more on-board technology, the new SEAT Ibiza will be more spacious, thanks to the use of the MQB A0 platform – an absolute first for SEAT and for the Volkswagen group – which allowed for an increase in the wheelbase (more than 95 mm) without increasing in length. It will also allow you to lose weight and improve in the dynamic chapter, an aspect always important for the Spanish brand.
In this new generation, SEAT has discarded the van (ST) and three-door (SC) variants, and for this reason the Ibiza will only be offered in the 5-door version (in the pictures).
Engines
With the exception of the 150 hp 1.5 TSI block that will only arrive at the end of the year (the first will debut at the Golf), we can count on the usual three- and four-cylinder blocks from the VW Group. Among them we highlight the 1.6 TDI engine in versions of 80, 95 and 110 hp. In gasoline engines, the star is the well-known 1.0 TSI in the 95 and 115 hp versions.
