Your car's next engine? A Ferrari V10

Anonim

A unit of the Ferrari Type 046 engine that the Italian brand used in Formula 1 is now up for auction at Rétromobile in Paris.

Debuted in the Ferrari F310 (in 1996), the Type 046 was the first engine with V10 architecture after turbos were banned from Formula 1, in 1989.

The new regulation provided that aspirated engines could have up to 3.5 liters of capacity, without cylinders. Faced with this regulation, Ferrari decided to bet on V10 engines – more powerful than V8 engines and lighter and more compact than V12 engines. In short, the ideal compromise.

Capable of developing over 750hp at 15,500 rpm (in qualifying mode), the Type 046 engine is one of the most spectacular of the 90's and now it can be yours. This engine will be at Retromobile (Paris), in an auction promoted by RM Sotheby's this day. Asking value? Between 50 to 70 thousand euros.

It looked really good in your car, didn't it? ?
