Now that the next generation Bugatti Veyron is expected, the legendary editions pose together for the last time on Pebble Beach, before parting ways. Maybe forever.
There are six Bugatti Veyron Legends, a family of copies launched to honor the brand's history. Each legendary model is based on the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, that is, the most powerful and fastest of all Veyrons: 1200 hp and 1500 Nm, taken from a block of 8l and 16 cylinders in W, with 4 turbochargers. Values that translate into 2.6 sec. from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 408.84 km/h.
It all started with last year's release of Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Legend Jean Pierre Wimille , a tribute to the legendary pilot and the Bugatti Type 57 G, nicknamed “the Tank”. Bugatti's sporting successes with this duo in the 24 hours of Le Mans, would later reinforce the brand's image and be the launching pad for other flights.
In the same year, we would come to know another special edition of the Bugatti Veyron Legends: the edition Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Jean Bugatti . This time, tribute was paid to the son of the brand's founder, Ettore Buggati, taking the opportunity to recapture the mystique and charm of the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, one of the brand's most striking cars and one of the rarest with only 4 units produced. The values that they reach today at auctions make any collector sweat.
One month before the end of 2013, we would come to know again another special edition. Presented at the Dubai Show, the edition was made known to the public Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Meo Constantini . This edition paid tribute to yet another legendary driver working for Bugatti: Meo Constantini. Driver who had the pleasure of driving the Bugatti Type 35, the brand's most iconic car in motor racing. Meo Constatini, driving a Bugatti Type 35, reigned and conquered almost everything there was to gain at the time. A domain that lasted from 1920 until 1926.
In 2014 it would be time for us to know the remaining 3 special versions that were missing and it all starts in March, at the Geneva Motor Show. This time the tribute version was destined to Rembrandt Bugatti , younger brother of Ettore Bugatti, founder of the brand.
Rembrandt Bugatti is not only worthy of mention for being the brother of who he is, but above all for being one of the most outstanding artists of the century. XX. He would be associated with the Bugatti brand forever, after sculpting a dancing elephant, which would later adorn the hood of the Bugatti Type 41 Royalle, the luxury brand's flagship.
A month later, we were introduced to a new edition of the Bugatti Veyron Legends, with the special version Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Black Bess , this time the tribute was exclusively for the car that for the first time managed to achieve the title of fastest production car in the world in 1912, the Type 18. With just 100 hp extracted from a 5l block and 4 cylinders, the Type 38 was capable of reaching 160 km/h.
With 5 editions already in perspective, we lack the last and most iconic of all, where tribute is paid to the founder of the brand, Ettore Bugatti. This latest special version brings with it a tribute to Ettore Bugatti's masterpiece: the colossal Type 41 Royalle.
Ettore Bugatti, started as a mechanic's apprentice in a bicycle and motorcycle workshop at the age of 17. The internship in the Milanese workshop would give him enough material for Ettore to launch his first construction of a motor vehicle, first with a motorcycle and then with a car, earning him a prize at the Milan International Fair. stints at companies such as De Dietrich and Deutz would launch him into an auspicious career. The rest? The rest is history and is for all to see.
Only 3 units were produced of each model of the Bugatti Veyron Legends, making a total of 18 cars that reach the magnificent sum of 13.2 million euros and that, despite the prices, are all sold.
