Yet another sign of Mercedes-Benz' commitment to electrifying its vehicle range.

It is known that Mercedes-Benz has been developing a platform for electric models since last year (dubbed EVA), but it seems that the Stuttgart brand even intends to inaugurate a sub-brand that will bring together the future range of electric models . Although the name has not yet been chosen, this sub-brand should work similarly to AMG (sports) and Maybach (luxury), thus being the third division of the Mercedes-Benz universe.

According to sources close to the brand, the plan is to launch four new models – two SUV's and two saloons – by 2020, in an attempt to get ahead of BMW and get closer as quickly as possible to Tesla. The production of the new models will be in charge of the brand's factory in Bremen, Germany.

We remind you that the presentation of a 100% electric prototype with 500 kilometers of autonomy is planned at the next Paris Motor Show, which will be quite revealing of the future production model, both in terms of exterior and interior design, as well as in terms of mechanics. In addition, Mercedes-Benz is expected to introduce wireless charging technology for hybrid and electric vehicles in the next year.
